Kettle Trophy Round 4 Results and League Table

Big day as we move towards/ go through the halfway point of the competition.  This was the fourth round (though for four teams, it was only their third game; quirk of the draw - don't ask, for I know not the answer) and for some teams it was almost last chance at the OK Corral.  A few of them rose to the challenge (Bob Barr, Niall Gunn and Jenny Barr) and a few didn't.  Susan Kesley and her team are flying high underneath the radar; they are the only undefeated foursome in the competition and with both John Steven and Brian losing tonight, she has moved serenely clear at the top of the table.

Here are the results

Team 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
F A E F A E F A E F A E F A E F A E F A E F A E
Gunn N       3 4 2 3 4 3 14 2 7 5 3 4
Steven J 4 3 4       1 11 1 12 2 5       3 13 3
Fleming B 4 3 4 11 1 6       5 7 4             4 7 3
Munro D 2 14 1 2 12 2 7 5 3                         4 9 2
Wood K 3 5 3                         7 6 4 5 12 2
Barr B       13 3 4             6 7 3       3 6 2
Kesley S             7 4 4       12 5 5             5 4 4
Barr J                         9 4 5 6 3 5 4 5 3

This was a big win for Bob Barr - both from his own point of view but also because it puts John Steven onto two losses.  When you score a 6 in the first end and your three team mates are former Scottish Junior Champions Caitlin Barr and John Penny with third Blair Fraser - well, it's not a bad start!  Bob and co went on to record a comfortable win.

Niall Gunn came through a tight game against Katie Wood with a 5-3 win that keeps him in the hunt on four points.  Jenny Barr was always up against Dave Munro and managed to win five ends as well to help keep her in the top half of the league and Susan Kesley had the better of Brian in a tight game.

 And now the league table

Position Team Played Ends Shots u/(d) Shots scored Points
1 Kesley S 3 13 11 24 6
2 Fleming B 4 17 6 24 4
3 Gunn N 4 16 12 25 4
4 Barr J 3 13 7 19 4
5 Steven J 4 13 -9 20 4
6 Barr B 3 9 6 22 2
7 Wood K 3 9 -8 15 2
8 Munro D 4 8 -25 15 2

With a game in hand and already two points clear, it is looking good for Susan and her team, third Mike Wood, second Betty Gibb and lead Maggie Barry.  Her team tonight had Douglas Burns (lead) and Fran Stretton (second) substituting for Mike and Maggie.  Sign of a good team when they can take out one of their main rivals with two substitutes playing.  Mind you, try telling that to John Steven - all I'm saying on that one!

Next week, Susan takes on a resurgent Bob Barr and Katie Wood plays Jenny Barr.  If Susan wins her game - helpmaboab for the rest of us.
