Welcome to Currie and Balerno Curling Club!
We are a mixed club, with a mixed age group and a mixed ability. Our games are competitive but fun too!
We play our club league games on a Friday night. We also have a doubles event which is usually held on a Sunday in November then a social bonspiel which is held on a Saturday in March followed by a meal.
Currie and Balerno also compete in several Curl Edinburgh competitions and some national events (qualification dependent!)
Currie and Balerno CC can trace its history back to two separate and very different clubs, Currie curling club, instituted in 1830 by the local gentry and the later Balerno curling club which was founded in 1895 by ordinary folk. The two clubs merged in 1928 to become the club we know today. This means in a couple of years, the club not only celebrates its centenary, but its founding clubs 135th and 200th!
More about the history of the club as well as notable current and former players and the history of our trophies can be found in the various tabs on this website.
If you are interested in taking up curling, follow the link below to Try Curling, an initiative run by the governing body of curling in Scotland, Scottish Curling. On this website, you can book a slot at an available session and learn a little bit more about curling before stepping on the ice. There are Scottish Curling trained coaches at each session to get you up and sliding in no time!
