There were a couple of cracking games this evening that could have gone either way.

Andrew Galloway, Robin Copland and substitute Gavin Barr played against Shona Watt (skipping for Susan, who was up in Aberdeen on Petrofac duty), Agnes Barr, and substitutes Laura Barr and Margaret Jacks.  Andrew stretched away to a three-shot lead which was immediately pegged back with a great 3 from Shona.  A run-back gave Galloway a score of 2 in the sixth end and Shona had the opportunity to take a 2 right back in the next end.  Her attempted tap back just ran straight and Andrew counted himself lucky to steal and take a three-shot lead into the eighth end.

Again, the rubs favoured the Galloway team in the last end and they managed another steal to take six ends from the encounter.  Shona and company played their part in a really high quality game and deserved better than two ends.

Meanwhile on the next sheet, Farmer Bob Barr, Lois's nephew Andrew Cargill, Barbara (Mrs Mike) Wood and the ex Glasgow Young Curler, Pauline Alexander found themselves in a tight and toothy tussle against Mike (Mr Barbara) Wood, Andrew's aunt Lois Copland, the relationless Francis Kennedy and newly-crowned Edinburgh Curling Club Ladies Pairs Champion, Tasha Aitken.  Mike always seemed to just (and no more!) have the upper hand in this one, but Bob never let them have their own way.  Final score was 5-3 to team Wood.

Previously undefeated Andrew Barr, Niall Gunn, Raymond Preston and (also newly-crowned Edinburgh Curling Club Ladies Pairs Champion) Morna Aitken hit the buffers against Brian Fleming, with Catriona Still, Nook Weir and Simon Kesley.  This was a great win for Brian after a sore one last week against Andrew Galloway.  The wheels came aff the Barr bandwagon and only one end leaves them struggling on that front as well.

John Steven, who was in last place in the league eight days ago, now finds himself in second place overall, though both Katie Wood and Andrew have a game in hand.  A good win tonight for John over the Jenny Barrless Jenny Barr team!  Least said, soonest mended.  Betty was off to the pub after the game - and she's probably still there!

It's looking good for Andrew right now, though there are still a couple of teams on only one loss.  He has a stack of ends, mind you.  Other teams will be looking for help.  A couple of gubbings required.  Not if I have anything to do with it, mind you!
