Reserve Availability List at 13 November 2018

Here is the revised reserve availability table for this week.  23 November is still a bit of a disaster.  Look outside the club if you need a late substitute.

Please can you let Jenny and me know about your availability in the second half of the season?  People will be starting to look for substitutes now, so I will post a second half list in the next week or so.

Results and League Table Round 4.2

In a six-end game, John Steven hoisted himself off the bottom with an emphatic win over Shona Watt, skipping Mike Wood's team in his absence.  Ends two and three (scores of 3 in each) pretty much sealed things for John, Karen Munro, Megan Priestley and Andrew Cargill.

Meanwhile Bob Barr and Dave Munro chucked twos and threes at each other in a vain attempt to win/ lose the game.  Result - an honourable draw and, importantly for Susan Kesley (Bob's normal skip), the point gained moves her team one point clear of a closely charging pack.

Boy, but this league is tight!

Here's the scores grid.

Team Davie Success in European Junior Champions Tour Event

Team Davie has built on the excellent start that they have made to the new season - they won the Greenacres Under-21 Slam event back at the end of September and, as a result, won a trip to the Nordic Junior Curling Tour Copenhagen leg at the end of November.  C&B's own Kirsty Barr and Emma Barr are members of the team.

In the meantime though, they have won the European Junior Champions Tour event at the Braehead rink through in Glasgow.  This sets them up nicely for the upcoming Scottish Junior Curling Championships early in 2019.

The Braehead competition was truly international.  Team Davie managed a great win against Team Tanner from Switzerland (I suspect that I played against their father and grandfather in the 1970s!), team Bryce in the semi-final and then the team skipped by Maria Hamre Ramsfjell (and again, I suspect I played against Ramsfjell senior in various competitions throughout the seventies and eighties).

A fantastic performance by the team and their coach, our own Andrew Barr.
