Kettle Trophy Results and League Table Round 1

Yesterday, it was the end of winter and beginning of spring, with all its greenery and promise of new life.  Today, it is winter again; it must be - we are curling - and on our new floor as well!  I don't know about anyone else (and frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn), but I thought that the ice was splendid for so early in the season.  Sheet one didn't have its usual fall into the wall and there was a nice curl on both hands.  Excellent and it bodes well for the rest of the season!

Now.  Down to the nitty gritty.  The first round of the competition for the Kettle Trophy 2018.  Here is the results table.

Team 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
F A E F A E F A E F A E F A E F A E F A E F A E
N Gunn       8 6 4
K Clark 6 8 4
J Steven                   4 11 2
S Kesley             11 4 5
K Wood                               3 9 1
J Barr                         9 3 4
D Munro                                           9 2 5
M Wood                                     2 9 2

It is always relatively easy to follow the results of round one, I always think, given that they are so close to each other on the table.  Just a thought and probably not worth the paper it is written on.  Another thought: no paper was used in the construction of this report.  Apart from the score cards.

A word about score cards.  Most were nicely filled in.  Full names please and whether or not the player is a substitute.  Who, for example, is this chap Trevor Dodds?  Never heard of him.  Shadow of his former self; example for us all - especially your correspondent;  Yada, yada; more hot air.

And talking about hot air, did you hear the noise from sheet one (Gunn v Clark)?  Did you wonder what was going through John Steven's mind as he went crashing to an 11-4 defeat at the hands of the Scottish Ladies Senior Champion skip, la belle Kesley?  Jenny Barr racked up five ends in her match-up against Katie Wood.  And in the battle of East Lothian, Mike Wood needs to spend less time on the golf course and more time practising his curling - all I'm saying.

A final plea: if you need a substitute, try to get one organised as early as possible.  We will try to make it as easy as possible by updating the reserve availability on a weekly basis.  Please help Jenny and me by letting us know as soon as possible about your availability.  Use it or lose it, as a wise person once remarked...

Enough already.  Here is the league table.

1 Kesley 1 5 7 11 2
2 Munro 1 5 7 9 2
3 J Barr 1 4 6 9 2

5 K Clark 1 4 -2 6 0
6 J Steven 1 2 -7 4 0
7 M Wood 1 2 -7 2 0
8 K Wood 1 1 -6 3 0
