Kettle Trophy Round 7.1 Results and League Table

The big game tonight was the Brian v Katie match.  Brian won the game and moved to double figures.  Now he, Dave Munro, Maggie Barry and Norman Nicol have to wait for results next week.  More of that in a minute.

In their last game, Raymond Preston (skipping in place of Robin), Megan Priestley with substitutes Graham Paterson and Richie Anderson had a good win against Rowena Steven, Sheena Munro and Kirstin Anderson.  Here are the detailed results.

John Steven plays Kerry Clark.  In order to win the league he has first to win the game, then score at least four ends.  If he wins four ends, he has to make sure that he wins by eight shots.  That would bring him level with Brian, but he would win the league on shots scored - the fourth measurement criterion.  It's that close, except, there's more...

Jenny Barr plays Karen Munro.  Jenny is on 22 ends, six behind Brian's total.  She is also 15 shots-up behind Brian and has scored 37 shots in the competition compared to Brian's 56.  Her challenge is even bigger than John's.  Her challenge: score a minimum of six ends and win by 15 shots, or score seven ends!  Bit of a tall order, perhaps, but this league has thrown up all kinds of excitement, so will there be a final twist?

Karen is also on eight points, but has significantly fewer ends won - nine less than Brian, five less than John and three less than Jenny - you get the picture.

In summary, with two games to go in the league, three teams are in the shout for the Kettle and four can still win the Harlaw Cup.

But there's more...

Kerry beats John and moves to nine points.  John stays on eight.  Jenny and Karen peel their game and move to nine points each.  Then it's down to ends.  Jenny is currently three ends ahead, but if Kerry wins a bundle and Jenny doesn't.  Five teams still in the hunt for the Harlaw.

Stop the bus.  I want aff.
