Kettle Round 3.75 - 24th October

The remaining 6 teams to compete in round 3 took to the ice on Friday. Some big scores and good curling on difficult ice, and one very close game!

Karen was very lucky, with the ice going in her favour, against Niall Gunn. A 6 in one end really took the game in one direction which made it very hard for Niall to come back from. David Aitken's team, who was skipped by Vicky, took a nice win over Mike Wood's team (skipped by his daughter Louise). The close game was Brian Fleming (skipped by Katie Wood) against Kerry Clark. Katie came back 6-0 down to draw the game 7-7 going into the last end, where Kerry finished the game with Bruce Mouat level draw right to the button to win the game.

Kettle Round 2.75 and 3.125 - 17th October

Due to the game on Thursday the 16th, it means that these games were the final games for round 2 as well as the first games of round 3, which makes it great fun trying to think about the what to call each round!

Karen had a very close game against her Dad which came down to the last end! Tricky ice meant the game was very back and forth. The other sheet saw Niall and John go head to head. A run of 4 ends at the start set the game up for John, and despite a couple of ends, the game ultimately went to John.

Kettle Round 2.5 - 16th October

This C&B game is a bit unique, being played on a Thursday. The reason behind this is that it was originally scheduled for 24th October but since most of the players were going to be away and would need subs, it was decided to rearrange for the 16th.

Although the result appears as if the game was one-sided, that was far from the case. After 6 ends the teams were level at 4-4 and during the last end Dave was lying shot with just 2 stones left to throw. Dave attempted to play another shot into the house but wrecked on a guard which left John a shot to remove Dave's lonely stone from the house, which he performed perfectly, to leave his team lying with 6 shots.

Kettle Round 2.1 - 10th October

Our first split night of the season took place on the 10th of October with teams numbered 1-4 playing each other. From the look of the scores, it was a good night of curling (for 2 of the teams at least!). Well done to Kerry for securing her second win of the competition already, and to Mike for securing his first.

Kettle Round 1 - 3rd October

I hope everyone had a lovely summer and are now ready for a new season of curling!

It was great to see everyone out of the ice for the first game of season, first of our Kettle competition and the opening day for the ice rink!

4 good games were had, with most being pretty close (sorry Mike!) and it was great to catch up with everyone. We had tricky ice in our game which meant playing down one side of the ice which made for an interesting game. It was a close game and a fun one!

Here is the first league table of the season!
