Looking for a Substitute?...

we have all been there.  "Oh, you're the fifth person who has phoned me this week..."

Would it not be great if we could use the website to tell us at least whom we should not phone?  So, here we are.  If you need to find a substitute in the first half of the season, have a look at the list and only phone a greeny!  Avoid the reddies, for they are already playing or, perish the thought, doing something other than curling for C&B (can you believe it?) on a Friday.

Reserves...
  • Email me if you are down as available, but you cannot play
  • email me if someone phones you and your status changes.
Here is my commitment to you: I will update the list at least once a week (assuming you contact me).  Communication is the name of the game.  Use it or lose it!

Now.  You'll be wanting my email address.  I am not, under any circumstances...; wild horses would not drag it from my quivering lips...; you must be bleeding joking...;

Kettle Trophy Round 1 Results and League Table

Good grief, this is far too early to be curling, surely?  I mean, come on: the grass is still growing; the nights are still fairly long; the golf course isn't covered in snow; the roads are covered with enormous farmy kinds of vehicles that leave huge ruts of all kinds of crap to ensure that the freshly washed cars are turned into mud heaps within nano-seconds of leaving the car wash.  The harvest isnae in and we're freezing in Murrayfield.

It is all too much and I blame the president's husband for the whole thing.

Oh, that'll be me, then.

On with the first round in the Kettle!

Team 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
F A E F A E F A E F A E F A E F A E F A E F A E
Gunn N       3 4 2
Steven J 4 3 4
Fleming B                   5 7 4
Munro D             7 5 3
Wood K                               7 6 4
Barr B                         6 7 3
Kesley S                                           5 4 4
Barr J                                     4 5 3

Actually, tight games all!  Jenny Barr raced into an early lead against Susan K.  Susan got it back to peels playing the seventh and stole a one to win the game.  Well done Susan, Mike Wood, Cruiser Gibb and Maggie Barry.

Big game on sheet 2 between John Steven and Niall Gunn.  Many thought that this was the competition decider, in which case, let's all save plenty of time and award John Steven, Lois Copland (the president's husband's wife - is there not an easier way of describing her?), substitute Laura Barr and Richard Alexander the title for they came through a toothy tussle 4-3.  In truth, they were 4-1 up playing the seventh and last end, so it maybe was not quite as close as the score suggests.

Shona Watt stepped up to skip in Brian's absence, but a four, then a stolen two for Robin, skipping in Dave Munro's absence finally did for her and in the other game, Kerry Clark, nee Barr who was skipping faither's rink in his absence just came up short against Katie, Raymond, Morna and Susan MacFarlane.

OK - them's the scores.  Here's the first league table of the competition.

Position Team Played Ends Shots u/(d) Shots scored Points
1 Steven J 1 4 1 4 2
2 Wood K 1 4 1 7 2
3 Kesley S 1 4 1 5 2
4 Munro D 1 3 2 7 2
5 Fleming B 1 4 -2 5 0
6 Barr B 1 3 -1 6 0
7 Barr J 1 3 -1 4 0
8 Gunn N 1 2 -1 3 0

All to play for.
