Kettle Round 2.1 - 10th October

Our first split night of the season took place on the 10th of October with teams numbered 1-4 playing each other. From the look of the scores, it was a good night of curling (for 2 of the teams at least!). Well done to Kerry for securing her second win of the competition already, and to Mike for securing his first.

Doubles Competition - Pairings

 Hi all,

Our doubles competition is on the 2nd of November. Current pairings are below:

If you need a sub or have already secured one, let the committee know so we can sort the pairings out ahead of the competition. Thank you!

Kettle Round 1 - 3rd October

I hope everyone had a lovely summer and are now ready for a new season of curling!

It was great to see everyone out of the ice for the first game of season, first of our Kettle competition and the opening day for the ice rink!

4 good games were had, with most being pretty close (sorry Mike!) and it was great to catch up with everyone. We had tricky ice in our game which meant playing down one side of the ice which made for an interesting game. It was a close game and a fun one!

Summer Night Out

On the 24th of May, C&B took over World of Bowling at Edinburgh Corn Exchange (and by take over, I mean we booked 3 lanes of bowling and then the crazy golf). It was a great evening, with some impressive bowling and putting skills, and some less so!

We first took on the bowling, with some high-scoring lanes, and some not so high-scoring (cough cough, my lane!)

I was really close, I promise!

We then headed through a magical portal to the crazy golf next door. We split off into groups and tried our hardest to get those coveted hole in ones...and I think some people actually managed it!

AGM and Prize-Giving 30th April 2025

Currie and Balerno CC's AGM was held on the 30th of April at Currie Rugby Club. The meeting was chaired by President Betty Gibb, who passed over to new president Kerry Clark, with Jenny Barr and Dave Munro filling out the top table. Trophies and prizes from the season were handed out after the AGM has wrapped.

The Winners from the 24/25 season were as follows:

Kettle: Karen Munro, Josh Kellock, Lois Copland and David Aitken

Harlaw Cup: Shona Watt, Dave Munro, Joe Barry and Stuart Ronald

Doubles: Vicky Gumley and Lois Copland

Points Shield: Dave Munro

Butter Dish (runner up): Kerry Clark

Rosebank Cup (Ladies points): Kerry Clark

Tom Holmes: Ally Henry, Graham Paterson, Kim Dalland and Francis Kennedy

Lymphoy Cup: Kerry Clark, Jenny Barr, Ally Henry and Allan MacLennan

Glenbrook Quaich: Mike Wood, Katie Wood, Kate Torrance and Stuart Ronald

Club Achievement Award: David Aitken

The award for most ends won went to Mike Wood's team in the Lymphoy competition with an impressive 54 out of a possible 56 ends played!

Thank you to the committee, the players and the subs for making the season a great one. Special thanks to Jenny for organising not just the committee, but the ice, the teams and the rink itself. She does so much behind the scenes which allows the season to go without a hitch!

Kettle Winner: Karen Munro

Harlaw Cup: Dave Munro
Doubles Winners: Vicky Gumley and Lois Copland

Points winner: Dave Munro

Ladies points winner and overall runner up: Kerry Clark

Tom Holmes: Graham Paterson

Lymphoy Cup: Jenny Barr and Kerry Clark

Lymphoy Cup Round 7 (Finale!)

Currie and Balerno's season wrapped up on the 21st of March with everyone out on the ice. Some large scores were had over all games which led to some big scoring games! One interesting thing is that each on the losing teams only scored 2 points! The other scores differed massively from 13 (Jennifer Marshall's team taking a 7 in the last end!) to 7 (Dave Munro's team skipped by Betty Gibb, as Dave was off partying up the stairs!).

The only game that really counted on the night was Mike Wood vs Kerry Clark. If Mike peeled or won, the Lymphoy cup was his but unfortunately for him, Kerry's team (with super subs Rachel Macrae and Annie Fleming) were too strong and the game ended 10-2 to Kerry, meaning the final results are:

Lymphoy Cup winners: Kerry Clark, Jenny Barr, Ally Hendry and Allan MacLennan

Glenbrook Quaich winners: Mike Wood, Katie Wood, Kate Torrance and Stuart Ronald.

Well done to everyone on a great season!
